Prince Harry's Day at the Cricket World Cup

On Thursday, May 30, Prince Harry, the 34-year-old Duke of Sussex, attended the opening match of the ICC Cricket World Cup held at the Oval in London. Now, this wasn’t just any day at the cricket grounds. Before the thrilling match between England and South Africa, Harry had the chance to meet a group of enthusiastic kids chosen as Anthem Children from the Cricket World Cup youth engagement program. And guess what? One of those kids looked like a mini-me version of Harry himself!

While all the kids were dressed in matching blue baseball caps and tees, one little boy stood out. He had freckles and red hair—features that instantly reminded people of Prince Harry. You can imagine the smile that must have crossed Harry’s face when he noticed this little look-alike.

Prince Harry, who didn’t take paternity leave after the birth of his first child with Meghan Markle on May 6, took the time to give a heartfelt speech about the history of the tournament. He said, "The first ever Cricket World Cup took place in England in 1975, and I am thrilled that the UK will once again host this incredible global event featuring 10 fantastic teams. Thanks to the UK’s diversity, every team will feel like they are playing to a home crowd at every game.”

Harry went on to add, "Over the next six weeks, cities will come alive as World Cup fever sweeps the nation once more. Good luck to all the teams and thank you to everyone who has played a part in making this tournament happen. Trust me, you won’t want to miss any of it. I am now honored to declare the men’s World Cup of 2019 open."

The ICC Cricket World Cup runs from May 30 until July 14. This is one event we can’t wait for Harry and his baby boy Archie to enjoy together one day!
