Serena Williams Keeps Parenting Wisdom on Hold for Meghan Markle
Hey there, friends! If you’re like me, you’re probably fascinated by the lives of our favorite celebrities, especially when they’re diving into the world of parenthood. Tennis superstar Serena Williams, one of the most iconic athletes of all time, is keeping her parenting advice under wraps—for now. Despite being over the moon about her best friend Meghan Markle welcoming her firstborn into the world on May 6, Serena has decided to wait before offering any wisdom to the Duchess of Sussex. It’s all about giving new moms the space they need during those early, often overwhelming months.
Speaking to the BBC, Serena explained her approach. “I never pass on words of wisdom because I feel like, everyone, when they have a kid, especially when you just have a baby, it’s so difficult to just be,” she said. “It’s just like, get through the first three, four months and then we can talk.” Serena’s perspective is deeply rooted in her own experiences as a mother to her 1-year-old daughter, Alexis. She understands that the early days of motherhood can be chaotic and challenging, and she wants to make sure Meghan has the time and space to find her own rhythm.

What Serena Knows About Parenting
Meghan, 37, has been soaking up every moment of her new role as a mother, and Serena, along with her husband Alexis Ohanian, is in a prime position to offer guidance. As proud parents to their 1-year-old daughter Alexis, Serena and Alexis have firsthand knowledge of the ups and downs of raising a child. However, Serena believes that every parent needs to find their own way, and she’s willing to let Meghan do just that.

“Accept mistakes and don’t expect to be perfect. We put so much pressure on ourselves,” Serena explained to E! News a month before Archie’s birth. “My friend is pregnant, and she was like, ‘My kid’s gonna do this,’ and I just looked at her like, ‘No, she’s not.’” Serena went on to describe how her friend was eager to get tips, but Serena reminded her that high expectations don’t always align with reality. “She was like, ‘I need to talk to you about tips,’ because, yes, I had all of those high expectations.”
