Let’s talk about one of Hollywood’s most inspiring coparenting stories. Naomi Watts recently opened up about the incredible bond she shares with her ex, Liev Schreiber, and it’s truly heartwarming. Naomi, who’s now 54, shared her thoughts on their unique relationship during an interview with PorterEdit in August 2022. She said, “We’re doing things very differently. I’m pretty proud of us, even if it sounds corny. Our top priority has always been kindness and respect toward each other, and we’ve stayed committed to that.”
It’s worth noting that Naomi and Liev were together for over a decade, from 2005 to 2016. They welcomed two beautiful sons, Sasha, now 16, and Samuel, 14. In an interview with Hamptons Magazine, Liev described their partnership, saying, “We were a great balance for each other. I was the one who would go off on tangents, and Naomi was great at reeling me back in. And we’ve managed to keep that dynamic alive even after our relationship ended. I’m incredibly grateful to her for that.”
Liev also acknowledged Naomi’s patience with his quirks, saying, “I think I can sometimes take things too far. Naomi would probably agree with that. But that’s what made our relationship special, and it’s what continues to make our coparenting relationship work so well.”
In another interview with TV WEEK, Liev elaborated on why their coparenting relationship has been so successful. “At the end of the day, it’s all about remembering what really matters. For me, it’s our kids,” he explained. “Building and maintaining a career like Naomi’s and mine can be complicated, but having children together has given us something simple and beautiful to focus on. It’s a blessing, and we’re both deeply committed to making it work.”

The Secret to Their Success
According to Liev, the key to their successful coparenting relationship lies in communication and mutual respect. “It’s crucial that we find ways to support each other, even when life gets hectic,” he said. “Sometimes that means turning down projects or taking a step back from work to focus on family. Neither of us has a problem with that because we understand how important it is. You need to choose someone you truly respect. For Naomi and me, our relationship will always revolve around our children, so it’s essential that we work well together. So far, I’d say we’re doing pretty great.”
