There’s nothing quite like the excitement of a new school year, and Prince George and Princess Charlotte are no exception. Bursting with energy and big smiles, the royal siblings arrived at Thomas’ Battersea, an exclusive elementary school in London, ready to dive into their classes. “George is absolutely thrilled that Charlotte is joining him at his school,” a close friend of the royal family tells Closer Weekly in the latest issue, available on newsstands now. “Even though they have different personalities, they’re incredibly close. George is so proud of his little sister and loves showing her off to everyone.”

Prepping for the Academic Year

Like any doting parents, Duchess Kate and Prince William have been hands-on in preparing their children for the new school year. “Kate has no concerns about Charlotte fitting in because she’s such a social butterfly,” the friend explains. “This little princess has a way of lighting up any room she walks into, and it’s clear she’ll make friends easily.”

Brotherly Protection

While Princess Charlotte, 4, won’t be in the same classes as Prince George, 6, her big brother has already laid the groundwork for her. “Charlotte has already met many of George’s friends,” the royal insider shares. “He’s such a protective older brother that Kate knows he’ll keep an eye on her. It’s clear that George wants to ensure his sister feels welcome and supported every step of the way.”

Both children are genuinely passionate about their studies. “George is a curious kid who loves geography, English, and history,” the friend reveals. “He’s always eager to learn more about the world around him.” On the other hand, Charlotte leans toward the arts. This year, she’ll be diving into subjects like math, reading, French, music, and ballet. “She absolutely loves dancing and has already started talking about wanting the lead role in the school’s Christmas play,” the friend adds with a smile.

    Kate’s Bittersweet Moment

With only Prince Louis, 16 months, at home, Kate is feeling a mix of emotions as she watches her children grow up so quickly. “It really struck her how fast time is flying when she ordered Charlotte’s new uniform,” the friend explains. “She can’t believe how quickly her little ones have grown. It feels like just yesterday that they were tiny babies.”
