It’s been less than a month since Dr. Mehmet Oz welcomed his fourth grandchild into the world, and the beloved TV personality is already gushing about the joys of being a grandfather. At 59, Dr. Oz is embracing his role as a doting grandpa, spending quality time with his four grandchildren and making memories that will last a lifetime. Recently, while attending the premiere of The Game Changers in New York City, Dr. Oz opened up about his love and admiration for his growing family.
Spending Quality Time with the Little Ones
Dr. Oz, who considers himself a hands-on grandfather, shared his experiences with Closer Weekly on the red carpet. "I play with them all the time," he said, revealing the playful bond he shares with his grandchildren. "They want to see me because, when they do, they know something fun is about to happen. Whether it's a backyard treasure hunt or a day out at the Renaissance Festival, I always aim to keep things exciting. It’s not just about having fun; it’s about observing how they react when things don’t go as planned. Watching their resilience and adaptability is truly rewarding."

A Family on the Move
Dr. Oz’s busy schedule doesn’t stop him from involving his grandchildren in his adventures. "My wife, Lisa Oz, sometimes calls me a meddler because I’m always nudging them to join in," he joked. "I want them to swim in the pool with me, run around, and explore new places. Just the other day, we went apple picking and attended the Renaissance Festival. The kids dressed up, and it was an unforgettable experience. I believe in doing everything at full speed, and my grandkids are right there with me every step of the way."
Pampering with a Purpose
When asked if he enjoys spoiling his grandkids, Dr. Oz didn’t hold back. "Terribly," he admitted. "The beauty of being a grandparent is that you can give them back to their parents when it’s time. Plus, it’s my way of getting even with my kids!" he quipped, aiming his joke at daughter Daphne Oz, who shares all four children with her husband, John Jovanovic.
But don’t mistake his indulgence for a lack of boundaries. "Yesterday, we went apple picking, and at the end of the day, there was ice cream. I think that's perfectly fine," he explained. "Then they spotted some colorful candy rocks and started begging, so I gave in. Next, they wanted cinnamon donuts, and guess what? I got them too. So, yes, I do buy them junk food, but I’d never admit it publicly!"

Before the arrival of his fourth grandchild, Dr. Oz shared his excitement about expanding the family. "Having more children is like playing zone defense," he explained to Closer Weekly in April. "You can actually let the older kids help with the younger ones, and they genuinely want to pitch in. It’s a beautiful dynamic that strengthens the family bond."
