When she welcomed her first child, Zaphire, in 2017 with her husband, Dion Phaneuf, she quickly realized that this whole parenting thing comes with its fair share of challenges. Learning the Potty Training Ropes

Now, here’s the thing about potty training—it’s one of those milestones that can feel equal parts exciting and overwhelming. For Elisha, it was definitely the latter at first. "Honestly, I was totally lost when it came to potty training," she admitted during a recent appearance on The Talk. That’s when Dax Shepard, the dad of two daughters, came to the rescue. “Dax gave me this great tip,” Elisha recalled with a laugh. “He said, ‘We let our girls pick out their own potties.’ It sounded like such a simple idea, but it made so much sense.”

So, Elisha and Zaphire headed to Target to find the perfect potty. “I showed her all the options, and she went straight for this little penguin one,” Elisha said. “I was like, ‘Hmm, I might’ve gone for the one with the flush, but hey, you gotta roll with what your kid loves, right?’” The experience turned out to be more than just about picking a potty. “It’s been really encouraging for Zaphire to feel like she’s part of the process,” Elisha added. “It’s her journey, and giving her that ownership has been such good advice.”

Shoe Shopping Advice from Mila Kunis

But the advice didn’t stop there. Elisha also found herself stumped when it came to buying shoes for Zaphire. “I was really struggling with that,” she confessed. “Getting those tiny feet into shoes was harder than I ever imagined.” That’s when Mila Kunis stepped in to save the day. Elisha recalled their conversation, saying, “I remember asking Mila, ‘What kind of shoes should I get?’ She laughed and said, ‘Velcro! Anything with Velcro! No laces.’ It was like a lightbulb went off in my head.”

Elisha was beyond grateful for the advice. “I was like, ‘Thank God! Finally, someone who gets it!’” she joked. “And then Mila said, ‘OK, I’ll send you some.’ It was such a relief to have all these amazing moms around to help me out. It’s a village, right?”
