Marie Osmond: Why Honesty Is Key to Connecting With Fans

Marie Osmond's Journey of Honesty and Connection

We’re all in this together, and Marie Osmond knows it. When she opens up about her life—whether on stage, TV, or social media—it’s not just about airing dirty laundry. It’s about creating a genuine connection with her fans. Marie, who has been candid about her experiences, has a clear reason for doing so. “I don’t tell stories just to share the bad stuff; that’s not the point,” the The Talk cohost, 59, exclusively told Closer Weekly with a warm laugh. “There’s no point in sharing unless there’s a deeper reason. Life is something we’re all navigating together, and my goal is to make people feel less alone.”

Why Vulnerability Matters in Today's World

In today’s world, especially with social media, we often see a highlight reel of people’s lives. Marie recognizes this and believes it’s important to share the struggles as well as the successes. “Sometimes, people only see the good stuff on social media, but it’s the hard things that shape who we are,” she explained. “Life’s challenges build character, and I think it’s crucial to talk about those moments because they’re what make us human. We’re not perfect, and that’s okay. In fact, it’s what makes us relatable.”

Sharing Stories on 'The Talk'

Since joining the CBS talk show The Talk for its tenth season, Marie has been open about difficult topics, including the loss of her mother, Olive, her father, George, and her son, Michael. She believes that by sharing these personal experiences, she can create a sense of community. “I think by talking through things, people realize that we’re all women—and men—just trying to get through life,” Marie said. “It’s okay to say, ‘I’ve been there, I’ve been through this.’ Maybe that’s why CBS chose me—to bring that authenticity and share what I’ve learned along the way.”

Marie and her fellow cohosts—Sharon Osbourne, Eve, Sheryl Underwood, and Carrie Ann Inaba—are all about connecting with their audience. “The Talk is more than just a show; it’s a destination where people can come every day to laugh, learn, and even cry if they want,” she concluded. “It’s about having an hour to think and reflect on life. We’re here to make a difference in people’s lives, even if it’s just for a little while.”

Elsewhere in our exclusive chat, the iconic performer revealed she has a group text with the ladies of The Talk and shared her thoughts on Sharon’s facelift, which was revealed in the season 10 premiere.
