Debbie Gibson was already a superstar before she could legally toast her success with a glass of champagne. Now, with decades of experience under her belt, the iconic singer is looking back and sharing some heartfelt advice for her younger self. If she could turn back time, what would she tell the teenage girl who first stepped into the spotlight?

“I’d tell my younger self—and remind myself today—‘Stop worrying so much,’” Debbie, now 49, shared with Fox News in a candid conversation. “Recently, I saw a sign that said, ‘Not to ruin the ending, but it’s all going to be okay.’ That really hit home for me. It applies to everyone, whether you're in show business or not. We spend so much time stressing about the future, trying to control everything, and worrying. But honestly? Worrying doesn’t improve anything. It doesn’t make me sing better or feel better. Life is unpredictable, and I’d tell my younger self to enjoy every moment—to savor the ride.”

From Teenage Sensation to Global Star

At just 16 years old, Debbie penned her breakout hit, “Only in My Dreams,” which launched her into the international spotlight. Over the years, she has sold more than 16 million albums worldwide, proving her staying power in the music industry. But Debbie’s talents extend far beyond the recording studio. After achieving massive success as a singer, she transitioned into stage acting, starring in an impressive 17 musicals. Her versatility and dedication have made her one of the most enduring figures in entertainment.

    A Whirlwind Youth

Debbie admits that her early career was a whirlwind of excitement and pressure. “I was so caught up in it all,” she explained. “I was transitioning from high school to adulthood while the whole world was watching. I skipped college by choice, but looking back, I think it may have been too much too soon. Psychologically, it was overwhelming.”

Despite her achievements, Debbie acknowledges that she missed out on some of life’s finer details during those years. “There were so many nuances I didn’t fully appreciate at the time,” she reflected. “Now, I’m grateful to understand them better and experience life more fully. If I could go back, I’d tell my younger self to slow down and cherish every moment.”
