It’s been just over two weeks since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their bundle of joy, baby Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, on May 6. As the new dad adjusts to life with his little one, he’s also diving back into his royal responsibilities. On May 23, Harry left London for Italy to attend the Sentebale ISPS Handa Polo Cup in Rome, marking the first night away from his wife and newborn son.
Leaving Little Archie Behind Wasn't Easy
While Prince Harry was all smiles during his visit to Rome, behind the scenes, the trip wasn’t as carefree as it seemed. A source close to the royal family revealed that leaving Archie and Meghan was an emotional challenge for the Duke of Sussex. "Harry left for Italy, and it was incredibly difficult for him to say goodbye to his newborn son and wife," the insider shared with Us Weekly. "He wants to spend every possible moment with them, but his royal duties called, and he had to answer."
Even though this trip was necessary, the 34-year-old royal didn't take the decision lightly. Being away from his family for the first time since Archie’s birth was undoubtedly a tough pill to swallow. But hey, duty calls, right?

Meghan's Got This
Despite the emotional toll of leaving, Harry knows he’s leaving his son in the best hands possible. According to the insider, Meghan Markle has embraced motherhood with open arms. "She’s been incredibly nurturing and gentle with Archie," the source explained. "She’s really taken to her new role as a mom, which gives Harry peace of mind whenever he has to be away."
And Harry? Well, he’s been nothing short of a hands-on dad. From the moment Archie arrived, Harry has been fully invested in his role as a father, showing just how much he cherishes this new chapter in his life. It’s truly heartwarming to see such devotion from both parents.
Remembering Princess Diana
Archie won’t have the chance to meet his late grandmother, Princess Diana, but Harry plans to honor her memory in the most meaningful way. Diana was known for being an incredibly hands-on mom, and Harry wants to carry on that tradition. "Diana was an amazing mom," the source told Closer Weekly. "She loved spending time with Harry, whether it was going to amusement parks or skiing in Europe. Harry wants to give Archie the same kind of loving, normal upbringing that she provided."
