Is It Time to Say Goodbye? Rod Stewart Reflects on Retirement
As Elton John bids farewell to the stage with his grand tour, another music icon, Rod Stewart, is also contemplating his next move. At 74 years old, Rod recently opened up to The Sun about the possibility of retiring soon. In his characteristic candid style, he said, “It’s closer than you think.” While he plans to continue singing, the legendary performer admitted that the rock 'n' roll lifestyle may no longer be sustainable for him. “There’s got to come a time when I’m going to say, ‘Right, put away the tight trousers and all the funny clothes,’” he remarked, giving fans a glimpse into his evolving mindset.

A Journey Through Decades of Music
Rod Stewart's journey in the music industry is nothing short of extraordinary. From his breakout hit "Maggie May" in 1971 to his latest album, Blood Red Rose, released in 2018, Rod has consistently delivered chart-topping hits. With a career spanning over five decades, he has sold more than 100 million records worldwide. Even at the age of 74, Rod continues to tour and perform, proving that his passion for music remains as strong as ever. However, he acknowledges that change is on the horizon.
Currently on tour, Rod insists that his career may undergo a transformation soon. “I want to go on and do the Great American Songbook. In fact, I had a meeting about it last week, doing all the jazz standards at the Albert Hall,” he revealed. While retirement from the music industry altogether isn’t on the cards, Rod hinted that he might step away from rock 'n' roll performances. “Retirement? No. From doing rock 'n' roll stuff? Yes,” he clarified.

Family Life: A Balancing Act
When Rod isn’t busy chasing musical dreams, he dedicates his time to his family. Married to Penny Lancaster since 2007, Rod is the proud father of two children, Alastair, 13, and Aiden, 8. Together, they form a loving and supportive family unit. Additionally, Rod has six children from previous relationships, making him a father to eight kids in total. However, Rod made it clear that his family is complete. “My cue is back in the rack, the banana’s back in the fruit bowl,” he joked, signaling that he doesn’t plan to add to his brood anytime soon.
A Biopic in the Works?
With recent successful biopics of fellow music legends like Elton John and Freddie Mercury, Rod Stewart expressed interest in having his life story told on the big screen. “I haven’t seen the Elton John biopic, but I’d love one of me,” he shared during London nightclub Tramp’s 50th anniversary celebration. Rod’s life has been nothing short of fascinating, filled with incredible highs and personal challenges, making it the perfect subject for a captivating film.
