Let me tell you a story about Lee Majors and Farrah Fawcett, one of Hollywood’s most iconic couples back in the day. Imagine this: it’s 1968, and Lee, fresh off his role in The Big Valley, needed a date for an industry event. His agent pulls out some photos of new clients, and Lee picks the one he thought was the best-looking girl. That girl turned out to be Farrah Fawcett, and that seemingly casual moment sparked a love affair that would captivate fans for years.
Love at First Sight—or Not
Now, Farrah wasn’t just another pretty face. She was a University of Texas beauty who moved to Hollywood at 21, determined to make it as a model. When Lee’s agent sent her an invitation to dinner, Farrah wasn’t exactly thrilled. “Who does he think he is?” she thought to herself. But, hey, she agreed to go anyway. And that’s where things got interesting—or maybe not so much at first.
First Date Drama
On their first date, Farrah, who didn’t drink, ordered a scotch and Coke and promptly got sick in the ladies’ room. Lee wasn’t sure if she was genuinely sick or just didn’t like him. The next day, though, he sent her 13 yellow roses, a sweet gesture that likely softened the blow of that awkward evening. Despite the rocky start, something clicked between them. Lee told the Daily Mail, “The first moment we were together, that was basically it. She never went back to Texas to finish her senior year.”

A Hollywood Power Couple
They tied the knot in 1973, the same year Lee landed the role of Steve Austin on The Six Million Dollar Man. Farrah made appearances on the show, and Lee used his influence to help her secure other roles. “All the lessons I had learned the hard way, I tried to use to help Farrah,” Lee has said. Their marriage was a true partnership, rooted in their shared Southern roots and love of sports.
Rising Fame and Challenges
By 1976, Farrah’s career skyrocketed when she was cast as Jill Munroe on Charlie’s Angels. Suddenly, they were everywhere, and the pressure was immense. Lee recalled, “We couldn’t do anything without the paparazzi finding us.” The spotlight was relentless, and it began to take its toll. Farrah left Charlie’s Angels after one season to pursue more meaningful work in movies, which led to physical distance and growing independence in their marriage. Lee admitted, “One year, I saw her no more than two weeks.”
The Split and a Surprising Twist
They officially split in 1982 but remained in daily contact until Farrah fell for Ryan O’Neal, who, ironically, had been Lee’s friend. “They got serious, and I couldn’t believe it,” Lee told People. It was a tough pill to swallow, but life has a way of surprising us, doesn’t it?
A Heartfelt Reconciliation
Fast forward to 2009. Lee heard about Farrah’s battle with anal cancer and decided to reach out. On her 62nd birthday, he called her, and they had a 40-minute conversation filled with laughter, memories, and even a bit of emotion. They even talked about working together again, but unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be. Farrah passed away just four months later. Lee fondly remembered her as “one of a kind,” saying, “I was always 110 percent behind her and proud of her.”
Remembering a Hollywood Legend
Lee Majors and Farrah Fawcett were the Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie of their time, though, as Lee humorously noted, “that didn’t work out too good, either.” Their love story was a rollercoaster of highs and lows, but through it all, they remained a significant part of each other’s lives. As Lee looks back, he remembers Farrah not just as a star but as a sweet, loving woman who left an indelible mark on his heart.
