Growing Up in the Shadow of a Supermodel
Let's be real for a moment. Sailor Brinkley Cook, the 21-year-old daughter of the legendary Christie Brinkley, knows what it's like to grow up under the spotlight. In a candid interview with Closer Weekly and other reporters on the set of Dancing With the Stars Season 28, she opened up about the unique challenges and benefits of having a supermodel as a mom. While Christie has shared some incredible advice about confidence and life in general, Sailor admits it wasn't always easy. Sure, there were perks, but there were downsides too. It’s a balancing act that Sailor has learned to navigate with grace.
When asked if there was added pressure growing up as Christie’s daughter, Sailor didn’t shy away from the truth. "Definitely, of course," she said. As the up-and-coming model who stepped in for her mom on the ABC series after Christie broke her arm, Sailor knows firsthand what it’s like to follow in her mother’s footsteps. But she’s quick to point out that while her mom may have opened doors for her, it’s ultimately up to her to keep them open. "At the end of the day, no one cares who your parents are," Sailor explained. "It’s all about the work you put in and the attitude you bring to the table."

Building Confidence Through Hard Work
Now, let’s talk about Sailor’s journey to self-confidence. She’s not shy about admitting that she used to struggle with insecurity and self-doubt. But life has a way of teaching us lessons, and modeling, as challenging as it can be, has been a crucial part of her growth. "I went into modeling not knowing if I could handle it," Sailor shared. "But you find your way, you find your groove, and before you know it, you start to love it."

And let’s not forget the impact of dancing on her confidence. Performing on Dancing With the Stars has been transformative for Sailor. She’s already wowed audiences with her Foxtrot, Rumba, Tango, and Cha-cha-cha routines. "Every day in rehearsal, I push my body to its limits," she said. "It’s physically demanding, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. It’s made me feel stronger, more capable, and, honestly, like a machine."
