    Paul and Helen’s Excitement

In a joint statement, Paul and Helen expressed their excitement about the project, saying, “We are so thrilled to finally be doing this and we couldn’t be more delighted to have Peter Tolan leading the charge. We’re committed to delivering the same funny and heartwarming show you’ve come to know and love—though we might need a moment to remember what’s so funny about getting older. Trust us, it’s going to be fantastic!” Their enthusiasm is contagious, and fans can’t wait to see how this new chapter unfolds.

Behind the Scenes: The Idea for a Revival

Back in 2017, Paul Reiser hinted at the possibility of a revival during an interview with People. At the time, he was skeptical, saying, “For years, I would’ve said, ‘Absolutely no. We never would do it,’ because I was really proud of how we wrapped things up. We even gave a little glimpse into the future, so we thought, ‘Let’s make sure we never get tempted to come back. Let’s tell them what happens.’” However, as the conversation around revivals gained momentum, Paul began to reconsider. Watching his own kids grow up and leave the house sparked a new perspective. “It’s like that moment when you get married,” he explained. “It’s like we’re entering a new world where the rules are unclear, and that’s what makes it exciting.”

Of course, no revival would be complete without some familiar faces. John Pankow is back as Paul’s cousin (and possibly his best friend, aside from Jamie), Ira Buchman. Meanwhile, Richard Kind returns as Dr. Mark Devanow, adding even more depth to the storylines. These characters were essential to the original series, and their return is sure to bring back a wave of nostalgia for fans.

    Excitement from Spectrum Originals

Katherine Pope, Head of Original Content at Spectrum Originals, couldn’t contain her excitement about the project. She said, “We are beyond thrilled to partner with Sony Pictures Television to give Mad About You an exclusive home at Spectrum Originals. Two decades ago, fans fell head over heels for this show, and we’re confident that this time will be just as magical. Paul, Helen, and Peter are diving into the complexities of modern marriage through the eyes of two people who are just becoming empty-nesters. We can’t wait for everyone to rediscover their love for the Buchmans!”

And honestly, who could disagree? The charm and humor of the Buchmans never really left us. Now, they’re back with a fresh take on life, and we couldn’t be more excited!
