There’s no doubt that Sandra Bullock would do absolutely anything for her two children, Louis, 9, and Laila, 7. When the beloved actress took home the award for Most Frightened Performance at the 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards, she used the opportunity to send a powerful message to her kids through her Netflix horror film, Bird Box. It wasn’t just about acting scared—it was about teaching her family a lesson they’ll never forget.
What Sandra Taught Her Kids About Family
In her heartfelt acceptance speech, Sandra opened up about the deeper meaning behind her role in Bird Box. She explained that the film wasn’t just a scary story—it was a reflection of what it means to be part of a family. “I wanted you to see what being a family looks like,” she said. “Sometimes you’re born into a family, sometimes you need to go find it, and sometimes it finds you. She continued, emphasizing the importance of protecting those closest to us. “Family is what you protect, and what you saw in that movie is what your mommy would do for you,” Sandra revealed. With humor and honesty, she added, “And I know that, like in the movie, sometimes it might look like mommy is unraveling. But hey, that’s probably because you’ve pushed her to that place!”

After finishing the film, Sandra excitedly presented it to her kids. “When I finished the film, I went to my babies and said, ‘Here, Mommy made this for you,’” she told the audience. She joked that they wouldn’t actually be able to watch it until they turned 21 since “apparently, a movie about being a mommy is considered a horror film.” But she assured them, “You will know when you see it that there isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for you.”
