Hey there, friends. Let's take a moment to talk about Wendy Williams, the iconic host of The Wendy Williams Show. If you’ve been keeping up with her journey, you know 2019 hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing for her. In March, Wendy opened up about her stay at a “sober house,” where she was tackling her battles with alcohol and prescription drug addiction. And just when you thought things couldn’t get tougher, Closer Weekly revealed in April that Wendy had filed for divorce from her husband of over two decades, Kevin Hunter. But Wendy isn’t one to let life’s challenges slow her down. During a recent episode of her show, she shared some new news with her audience—she’s been diagnosed with Lymphoedema.
A New Battle: Wendy's Lymphoedema Diagnosis
Now, for those who might not be familiar with Lymphoedema, it’s a condition that causes swelling in different parts of the body. Wendy addressed her diagnosis head-on during her talk show, reassuring her fans that this wasn’t going to be the end of her journey. “It’s not going to kill me,” she told her audience, her signature strength shining through. “I’ve got it under control.” Wendy’s ability to maintain her composure and share her experiences with such grace is truly inspiring.

Managing Lymphoedema: Wendy's Unique Approach
Wendy admitted that this condition has caused her ankles to appear swollen in photos, but she’s not letting it get her down. She’s been using a special machine to keep the swelling under control, and she even joked about it with her audience. “If [the swelling] in my feet never goes all the way down, at least I have this machine,” she said with a laugh. “I sit for 45 minutes a day. It’s the best party entertainer ever. Everybody that comes over wants to try it.” Wendy’s humor and determination are truly infectious, and it’s this spirit that keeps her fans cheering her on.

Returning to the Show After Health Challenges
In March, Wendy made a triumphant return to The Wendy Williams Show after taking some much-needed time off to manage her hyperthyroidism and Graves’ disease. Her staff had previously issued a statement explaining the situation: “Over the past few days, Wendy has experienced complications regarding her Graves’ Disease that will require treatment,” they said. “Wendy will be under the strict supervision of her physicians and, as part of her care, there will be significant time spent in the hospital. Despite her strong desire to return, she is taking a necessary, extended break from her show to focus on her personal and physical wellbeing. Wendy thanks everyone in advance for their well-wishes and for respecting her and The Hunter Family’s privacy during this time.”

Wendy’s resilience is something we can all admire. She’s faced so many challenges this year, yet she continues to share her journey with us, reminding us that even in our darkest moments, there’s always hope. We’re rooting for you, Wendy. Keep shining that light!
