Life has a way of surprising us when we least expect it. Such was the case for Kauthar Hussain, who woke up one morning with no idea that her day would include an unforgettable meeting with her favorite celebrity couple, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi. Imagine the excitement when Kauthar found herself in the presence of these two icons during what started as a casual lunch outing.
Recalling the experience exclusively for Closer Weekly, Kauthar shared her initial thoughts and reactions. "I was at the Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam, a place I often bring friends for lunch," she said. "Out of nowhere, Ellen and Portia walked in with a group of friends. They took a seat and enjoyed their meal. I didn’t want to intrude on their privacy and ask for a photo, so I decided to let them have their moment."
From Lunch to a Memorable Chat
Kauthar's day took an unexpected turn when she realized her encounter with Ellen and Portia wasn't over just yet. "Moments later, I headed to the restroom and, guess what? There they were again," she said, her voice brimming with excitement. "We ended up having a lovely chat. They were incredibly down-to-earth, as if they were just two regular folks enjoying their day."

A Heartwarming Interaction
Kauthar couldn't have been more thrilled with how her meeting unfolded. Not only did she get to chat with her idols, but they turned out to be everything she had hoped for. "Portia was so sweet; she even asked me to grab my phone so she could take a picture of me and Ellen," Kauthar recalled fondly. "Meeting them in person was such a joy—they were kind, relaxed, and just genuinely nice people."
She added, "There’s something so calming about them. You can feel the love they have for each other. They left holding hands, and even at their table, Portia was making sure Ellen had everything she needed. It was clear that Portia is incredibly caring and loving toward Ellen."
