The Brady Bunch Cast Reunites For HGTV's 'A Very Brady Renovation'

Maureen McCormick Said She Never Watches 'The Brady Bunch'

It’s been half a century since The Brady Bunch first became a staple in American households, and guess what? The cast is as tight-knit today as they were back then. Thanks to HGTV’s exciting new show, A Very Brady Renovation, the six actors who played the Brady kids are coming together again, right in front of our eyes. It’s like a family reunion on steroids, and it’s happening live and in living color.

“It’s honestly like magic,” says Maureen McCormick, who played Marcia Brady, the eldest daughter. She spoke exclusively to Closer Weekly at the 21st Annual HollyRod Foundation’s DesignCare Gala in Malibu on July 27. “I can’t wait for everyone to see the show and witness this incredible transformation. It’s going to be unforgettable.”

What’s A Very Brady Renovation All About?

A Very Brady Renovation is a special series that dives into the transformation of the house that was featured in the exterior shots of the iconic Brady Bunch show from 1969 to 1974. The series premieres on Monday, September 9, and it’s set to be a nostalgic trip down memory lane for fans of the original series. HGTV purchased the house for a whopping $3.5 million back in 2018, and now, they’re giving it a complete makeover to recreate the interior as seen on the show.

Maureen, now 62, describes the project as “one of the nicest things” she’s ever been a part of. “It’s just like being with one big, happy family,” she explains. “Everyone at the network has poured their hearts and souls into this project, and it’s truly a celebration. This year marks the 50th anniversary of The Brady Bunch, and having this coincide with the show is just perfect.”

    Reuniting the Brady Bunch Cast

Imagine being Maureen, Eve Plumb (Jan Brady), Susan Olsen (Cindy Brady), Barry Williams (Greg Brady), Christopher Knight (Peter Brady), and Mike Lookinland (Bobby Brady), all back together again. According to Maureen, it’s a “classy and fun” experience. “It’s amazing how close we all are,” she says. “Even though we’ve all gone our separate ways and built different lives, it’s always wonderful to reconnect. Honestly, it’s been a long time since all of us have been together on a project like this. Some of us have done one thing, others haven’t done another, but this time, we’re all here. It makes this one extra special.”

Why Has The Brady Bunch Stood the Test of Time?

Maureen, who’s also a singer and author, is thrilled to introduce a whole new generation to The Brady Bunch. She finds it “mind-blowing” that the show continues to resonate so strongly in pop culture. “There’s just so much heart in the show,” she says. “That’s why it’s endured for so long. It’s a timeless classic because it captures the essence of family in a way that’s universal and relatable.”
