Not everyone jumps at the chance to be a parent, but for Mario Lopez, fatherhood feels as natural as breathing. In an exclusive chat with Closer Weekly, the proud dad of three shared his heart about what it's like to juggle being a working parent and how becoming a dad has transformed him for the better.
“It’s the best role I’ve ever had, hands down,” Mario said with a grin, referring to his recent collaboration with Office Depot for back-to-school shopping with his kids. “I love it. It’s all about embracing the challenges and loving every single second of it.”
Life as a Dad and a Hollywood Star

Being both a hands-on parent and a Hollywood star isn’t always a walk in the park. But for Mario, who’s raising three kids—Gia, 8, Dominic, 5, and newborn Santino—it’s not about stress; it’s about balance. “I get to enjoy breakfast with them every morning, and I’m home in time for dinner most nights,” said the Extra host. “I even make it to their practices most of the time. Work can get wild, but my kids understand why I do what I do, and they’re cool with it.”

What His Kids Think About Dad’s Career
As for whether his kids are impressed by his famous dad status? Mario laughed it off. “They’re still pretty young, so they don’t really think, ‘Oh, dad gets to do all that cool stuff.’ To them, I’m just dad. They don’t care what I do outside of being their dad.”

But don’t get me wrong—Mario wouldn’t trade this chaos for anything. “There’s so much beauty in all of it,” he admitted in another interview with Closer Weekly. “I love the chaos, the laughter, the challenges. And with my wife, Courtney Laine Mazza, by my side, we’ve got everything we need to be amazing parents. We’re truly blessed.”
