It’s been 13 years since the untimely passing of legendary crocodile hunter Steve Irwin, and as his daughter Bindi Irwin approaches her 21st birthday, she’s opening up about the moments she wishes her dad could’ve been there for. In a heartfelt interview with Stellar magazine, the passionate conservationist shares how his absence still resonates deeply in her life.
“There are days when the grief hits harder than others. Sometimes it’s the little things—like when my brother Robert receives an award for his incredible photography, or during those cozy dinners where we’re all laughing together. I’ll catch myself thinking, ‘I wish Dad was here for this.’ But he’s just not,” Bindi explained. It’s a raw, honest look at what it’s like growing up without a parent who meant so much to her.
Memories That Still Bring Tears

When Bindi was just eight years old, her world changed forever with the loss of her dad. Now, as a young woman stepping into her own shoes, she admits that the impact of his passing remains profound. “Even now, watching old footage of Dad handling crocodiles makes me emotional. No matter how many times I’ve seen it, there’s something about those clips that still brings tears to my eyes,” she confessed.
