Hey there, friends! Let's dive right into the heartwarming story of Bindi Irwin, who has had quite the whirlwind week. You see, Bindi, the incredible conservationist and daughter of the legendary Steve Irwin, got engaged to her love, Chandler Powell. And now, she’s sharing some truly touching details about her upcoming wedding plans, including who will walk her down the aisle in place of her late father.
Let me tell you, it’s a moment filled with so much emotion. Bindi, who is 21 years young, shared with ET that her brother Robert will be the one to walk her down the aisle. "I think that for me, it’ll be really important that Robert walks me down the aisle," she said. "That’s something that I really want to do. I’m always so grateful that Robert is there, and he has been such a big part of my life. He’s always been the one to give me a hug when I need it and encourage me forward in life." Bindi continued, "So he will definitely be the one to walk me down the aisle when the time comes, and I think that will make it really special."
Bindi added, "And I think that’s what dad would have wanted as well." It's a beautiful way to honor both her brother and her father, who she lost at such a young age.

Remembering Steve Irwin

Now, Steve Irwin, the world-famous "Crocodile Hunter," tragically passed away in 2006 when Bindi was just 8 years old. Since then, his children, Bindi and Robert, along with their mom Terri Irwin, have kept his legacy alive in the most beautiful ways. They’ve continued to honor his memory by dedicating their lives to conservation efforts and spreading his message of love for wildlife.
Special Wedding Plans
While Robert, who is 15, will be walking his big sister down the aisle, Bindi has other plans for the father-daughter dance. "I think, if I was going to do a dance, it would be with my mom," she revealed. "My mom and I are so close. She’s my pillar of strength in life and I love her beyond description. So I think, when the time comes, Robert will walk me down the aisle, [Chandler and I] will have our wonderful moment and I’ll have my dance with mom. I think that would be wonderful." It's such a sweet and thoughtful way to include her mom, Terri, in this special day.
Bindi also shared how she and her little brother have always turned to their mother, who is now 55, for advice when it comes to love. "She said to me a few months ago, she said, 'Your dad and I used to always talk about what makes a perfect marriage, or a really wonderful marriage, and what’s interesting is that for us, it was kind of that feeling of comfort.' So you know, your relationship can be this wonderful, exciting adventure, but you want to find someone who, at the end of the day, you’re really comfortable with." It’s advice that clearly resonates deeply with Bindi.
