Even after everything that’s happened, Thomas Markle is still holding onto hope. The 75-year-old father of Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has made it clear that he longs to meet his grandson, Archie. Despite the rift that has kept him from his family, Thomas remains optimistic about the possibility of reuniting with his daughter and her child.
In a candid conversation with the Daily Mail, Thomas opened up about his feelings. “I would love for them to send me a picture of Archie so I can frame it on my wall, right beside the one of Meghan,” he said, referring to a cherished photo of himself and his youngest daughter at a football game. “Isn’t that what every grandfather would want? I’d even love to know if he’s got the famous Markle nose. It’s just a small wish, but it means the world to me.”
A Family Divided
When Meghan Markle, now 38, and Prince Harry welcomed their first child, Archie, on May 6, it was a joyous occasion for the world to celebrate. However, Thomas Markle, the proud grandfather, has been left on the sidelines. “Of course, I’m deeply disappointed not to see Archie,” Thomas admitted. “I had hoped that becoming a mother would soften Meghan, and she would reach out to me. I thought this new chapter in her life might bring us closer together.” But instead, Thomas feels that the situation has only worsened. “Everyone talks about how gracious and wonderful they are, but they’re not being wonderful to their own family. That’s just not right. You can’t claim to bring people together while ignoring your own father and family.”
A Chance for Healing
Despite the challenges, Thomas remains hopeful that the family can reconcile. “I truly believe that all family differences can be resolved,” he said. “I still think there’s a chance for me, Meghan, and Harry to come together. I always dreamed I would be as close to Meghan’s child as I was to her when she was growing up. That’s the kind of relationship I want to have with Archie.”

Thomas isn’t the only Markle family member hoping for a reunion. Meghan’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., has also spoken out. In an interview with Access Hollywood, he expressed his desire for the family to come together. “Anytime there’s a new addition to the family, it’s a big deal,” he said. “Hopefully, in this case, it will help bring our family back together and heal some of the rifts we’ve seen in the media.”
“Meghan only has one family where she came from,” Thomas Jr. added. “She has another family now, but we’re still her family. I’d like to remind her of that and bring some awareness to it.”
