Simon Cowell Admits to Not Watching 'American Idol' in Years
Let's be honest, folks. Simon Cowell's name became synonymous with 'American Idol' back in the day. He was the guy everyone loved to hate, and sometimes even love to love. So, it might come as a shock to hear that this legendary judge hasn't tuned into the show in quite some time. Yep, you heard it right. Simon's DVR hasn't been graced with 'Idol' episodes for years now.
At 59 years old, Simon was recently asked about the buzz surrounding longtime host Ryan Seacrest potentially leaving the singing competition. Simon's response was as candid as ever: "I have no idea. I haven’t seen the show in so many years, I honestly couldn’t tell you," he told Us Weekly and others at the America’s Got Talent live show red carpet on Tuesday, August 13. He even joked, "I know more about The Little Mermaid," referring to the live-action version of the Disney classic that's been all over the news lately.

Simon's Journey From 'Idol' to 'AGT'
Now, it's surprising to hear that Simon has stepped away from 'American Idol,' considering he spent nine years at the judges' table. Back in the day, he worked alongside the iconic Paula Abdul and the ever-present Randy Jackson. But times have changed, and these days, Simon is all about 'America's Got Talent.' On this show, he's not just critiquing singers—he's diving into the world of all kinds of talent. His current coworkers, Gabrielle Union, Howie Mandel, and Julianne Hough, bring a fresh dynamic to the table.

While Simon doesn't seem ready to call it quits on 'AGT,' he does have a successor in mind when he eventually steps down. And guess who that is? His own son, Eric, who's only five years old but already eager to step into his dad's shoes. Eric's got big dreams, and Simon's ready to groom him for the role.
