Let’s face it, Reese Witherspoon seems like the last person who’d need a parent herself, right? But in a candid conversation with The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the 43-year-old star opened up about her experience teaching her 15-year-old son, Deacon, how to drive. Surprisingly, Deacon might just be the one taking the wheel more often than his mom, and for good reason—he's turning out to be a more focused driver!
Reese Admits Her Driving Distractions
When asked about her driving skills, Reese couldn’t help but laugh at the irony. "Oh, God. God help us all," she joked during the interview. "Deacon's actually a great driver. In fact, he’s better than I am. I mean, I get distracted so easily, especially when there’s a cute dog around." You can almost hear the sighs of relief from all the other drivers on the road knowing Deacon is out there with such sharp focus!

Reese’s Love for Dogs Takes the Wheel
Reese's love for dogs is no secret. She confessed that it's so strong, she’ll even pull over on the side of the road just to pet one. "I'm telling you, if I see a bulldog, I’m stopping. It’s like an instinct," she said with a laugh. "There are probably hundreds of photos of me on the side of the road with random dogs. I’m very particular about breeds, though. Bulldogs really do it for me." It sounds like Deacon might have to navigate the road while keeping an eye out for any four-legged distractions.

Even with her occasional driving distractions, Reese is determined to pass on all the essential tips to her son. After all, she’s not just teaching Deacon how to drive; she’s guiding him in making the right choices in life. With her other children, Ava Phillippe, 20, and Tennessee, 6, Reese always ensures they’re surrounded by people who can offer them diverse perspectives. "As a teenager, you only know what you know," she explained in a previous interview with InStyle. "I want my kids to experience different fields and industries, not just the bubble of Hollywood. That’s why I try to surround them with friends who work in medicine, science, and other areas."

Reese: The Ultimate Parent
It’s clear that Reese is not only a loving parent but also a thoughtful one. She’s teaching her kids more than just how to drive; she’s preparing them for life’s journey. And while we might not all have the chance to have Reese as our driving instructor, her approach to parenting is something we can all admire. If only we could all have a teacher like her behind the wheel—or in life!
