Carrie's Lupus Diagnosis: A Surprising Revelation
During her appearance on "Live! With Kelly and Ryan," Carrie Ann opened up about her health journey. The 51-year-old revealed that she had been living with an autoimmune disorder for six years, but it wasn't until recently that she discovered the specific diagnosis of lupus. "I was recently diagnosed with lupus," Carrie explained to hosts Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest. "It’s so strange. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition six years ago, but my doctor never explicitly told me it was lupus. It’s a bit surreal to finally have clarity on what I’ve been dealing with all these years."

Uncovering the Truth: A Colonoscopy Revelation
Carrie shared that her diagnosis came to light during a routine colonoscopy. "I was having a colonoscopy, and I saw my chart, and there it was—lupus," she explained. "I was like, 'This can't be my chart,' and they were like, 'Yes, it is. You have lupus.' It turns out my doctor had forgotten to tell me about the diagnosis." This revelation was a wake-up call for Carrie, prompting her to take control of her health and make necessary changes.
Adapting to Life with Lupus: Carrie's Journey
Since learning about her lupus diagnosis, Carrie has made significant adjustments to her lifestyle to manage her condition. "I quit drinking diet coke," she revealed, adding that she also stopped spending time in the sun due to her sensitivity to UV light. "When you have lupus, you're allergic to UV light, which I didn't know. I was unknowingly causing my own flare-ups. It's been a learning process, but these changes have made a big difference in how I feel day-to-day." Despite the challenges, Carrie remains grateful for her health and the opportunity to better understand her body's needs.

While these lifestyle changes have improved her quality of life, Carrie admitted it hasn't been easy. "I’m from Hawaii, and sunbathing is just part of life there," she said, reflecting on the sacrifices she's had to make. "It's been a challenge, but I'm learning to adapt and prioritize my health in new ways."
Gratitude and Awareness: Carrie's Message to Fans
Back in May, Carrie spoke candidly about her battle with autoimmune diseases, including fibromyalgia and Iron Deficiency Anemia (IDA). In an interview with People, she expressed gratitude for the clarity her diagnoses have brought to her life. "Once I was diagnosed, it was like I got my life back," she said. "I am so grateful. There’s a blessing in some of these health conditions because they give you a greater awareness of your own health. It makes you realize how important it is to take care of yourself, see your doctor regularly, and stay on top of your checkups."
