Have you ever had one of those moments where you just can’t believe your luck? That’s how Victor Garber felt when he got the chance to work with Mark Ruffalo, the man behind The Incredible Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In a candid chat with Closer Weekly, Victor opened up about what it was like collaborating with the superstar on their 2019 film Dark Waters. The experience, he says, was nothing short of amazing.
“Oh, Mark Ruffalo’s a nightmare like everybody says!” Victor joked exclusively with Closer Weekly at the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance Style Lab on November 6, before getting serious. “He’s the greatest. I mean, I’d just like to work with him all the time.” It’s not every day you get to team up with one of the Avengers, after all. Victor’s admiration for Mark is clear, and it’s easy to see why. Mark’s talent and professionalism make him a dream to work with on set.
An All-Star Cast for a Powerful Story

In Dark Waters, Mark plays a corporate defense attorney who uncovers a shocking secret that a major corporation has been hiding for years. Alongside Victor, Oscar winners Anne Hathaway and Tim Robbins join the cast, making this film an all-star lineup. Mark’s character faces numerous life-threatening situations as he fights to expose the truth and protect the public. It’s a story that’s as intense as it is inspiring.

Victor couldn’t be more excited about the project. “It was the best screenplay I’ve read since Argo, so yeah, I thought it was brilliant. The people involved were incredible, and it felt like a gift to me! I loved every second of it,” he explained. It’s clear that Victor was deeply moved by the script and the opportunity to work with such a talented team.
Why This Movie Matters
Even with an incredible cast, Victor wants fans to know that Dark Waters is about more than just great acting. The film tackles important issues, particularly water contamination, and Victor believes it’s a story that needs to be told. “The subject matter is so important, so timely, and so disturbing. I attended a screening, and I can confidently say it’s an incredible movie,” he noted. Victor’s passion for the film’s message is evident, and he hopes audiences will take notice of the critical issues it addresses.
