Joan Rivers’ Indelible Mark on the World
It’s been over five years since the legendary Joan Rivers left us, but her impact remains as strong as ever. Melissa Rivers, her daughter, shared heartfelt thoughts with Closer Weekly at the opening night of Summer: The Donna Summer Musical in Los Angeles. Melissa emphasized why her mother’s legacy will endure forever, touching the lives of many even today.
“I don’t think anyone’s ever going to be exactly like my mom again!” Melissa, now 51, exclusively told Closer on November 6, 2019. “There may be someone who achieves something similar, but come on, we’re never going to replace my mom. She was one of a kind.”

Joan’s Presence Lives On Through Cooper
Joan Rivers passed away at the age of 81 due to complications from throat surgery in September 2014. Even though it’s been years since Melissa last spoke to her mother, she revealed to Closer that she feels Joan’s presence daily when she looks at her 18-year-old son, Cooper Endicott. Melissa admitted, “Oh, way too much.” The resemblance between Cooper and Joan is uncanny, and Melissa joked that it “scares the s–t out of me.”

Cooper’s Connection to His Late Grandmother
Though Cooper was only a teenager when his famous grandmother passed, Melissa told Closer that the two were incredibly alike. In fact, the Celebrity Apprentice alum, who shares her college-age son with ex-husband John Endicott, gushed that her mom’s spirit lives on through her son. Melissa expressed, “I look at my son and I think he is the truest example of my mother’s legacy. He’s smart, funny, and kind. He’s such a good person — where did he get that from?”
