There’s no denying the influence Reba McEntire has had on the country music scene, and her impact extends far beyond her own songs. At the 2019 CMT Artist of the Year awards in Nashville, Hillary Scott of the chart-topping group Lady Antebellum couldn’t help but express her admiration for the legendary 64-year-old singer. The occasion was nothing short of a celebration for Reba, who was being honored as the 2019 CMT Artist of the Year.
Speaking to Closer Weekly and other reporters, Hillary shared her heartfelt appreciation for Reba’s enduring legacy. “She’s had an absolutely remarkable career, always reinventing herself, always hustling, and putting out incredible music,” Hillary said. “What’s even more inspiring is how authentic she’s remained throughout her journey. As they say, ‘You can take the girl out of Oklahoma, but you can’t take Oklahoma out of the girl.’ That’s exactly who Reba is—down-to-earth, genuine, and endlessly encouraging.”
