Mad About You star Helen Hunt had us all holding our breath after she was involved in a harrowing car accident last Wednesday, October 16. Thankfully, she escaped with only minor injuries and a few scares. Helen was briefly hospitalized alongside several others involved in the collision, which occurred in the afternoon. Closer Weekly has reached out to Helen's representative for further details, but as of now, she hasn't made any public comments about the incident.
What Happened During the Accident?
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the crash took place in the Mid-City neighborhood of Los Angeles at the intersection of San Vicente Boulevard and Tremaine Avenue. The good news? The LAPD confirmed that no criminal activity was involved. This was purely an accident, albeit a frightening one. Thankfully, Helen and the others involved were not victims of foul play, just bad luck on the road.

The Moment It Happened
The accident was captured on video and later released by TMZ. In the footage, you can see Helen’s black SUV attempting to navigate through an intersection when, out of nowhere, a speeding white car barrels into her vehicle at the last second, causing her car to flip over. It was a terrifying scene that left many of us wondering how anyone could walk away from such chaos. Thankfully, after the accident, bystanders rushed to help, ensuring everyone was safe and accounted for. The driver of the white car also stayed at the scene, which is always a relief to hear in these situations.

Helen's Condition and Recovery
TMZ reported that Helen was seated in the backseat of the car at the time of the crash. A representative for the actress told the outlet that while she was shaken, she suffered no major injuries. Helen was released from the hospital later that evening, but she has yet to speak publicly about the ordeal. We can only imagine how unsettling it must have been for her, and we’re grateful she’s doing well.
Just last month, Helen was chatting with Closer Weekly about reviving Mad About You alongside her co-star, Paul Reiser. It’s a project fans have been eagerly anticipating, and it seems like the timing couldn’t be better for Helen to take a little break and focus on her well-being before diving back into work.
