Christie Brinkley’s Positive Outlook Amid Injury
Let’s hear it for a proud mom! The iconic Christie Brinkley, though unable to compete this season on Dancing with the Stars due to an unfortunate injury, remains upbeat and encouraging. While celebrating the grand opening of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa, Florida, Christie opened up about passing the torch to her daughter, Sailor Brinkley-Cook. It's a touching moment that shows the strength and positivity of this legendary actress.
At 65 years young, Christie confessed to Closer Weekly, “It’s been the most beautiful silver lining I could’ve imagined.” She went on to express her initial heartbreak over not being able to compete herself. “Of course, I was crushed, so disappointed not to be able to take the stage myself. But life has its twists, and sometimes, those twists bring you unexpected joy,” she shared with genuine emotion.

Stepping into the Spotlight: Sailor Takes Over
Fans were thrilled when they learned that the stunning supermodel would be competing in season 28 of Dancing with the Stars. But life threw a curveball when Christie broke her arm during rehearsals just hours before the show premiered. In true Brinkley fashion, Christie decided that the show must go on. “Seeing as my first song was ‘Uptown Girl,’ I thought, ‘It’s got to be one of my girls doing it. We can’t just let it come to a grinding halt like this,’” she explained to Closer. “So much work was put into it, and I don’t know how Sailor did it, but in 10 hours of practice, she pulled it off!”
Sailor has since taken her mom’s place in the hit dancing competition, performing alongside professional dancer Val Chmerkovskiy. When the news broke that Sailor would step in, she told Good Morning America, “I just hope to make her happy and make her proud.” Talk about heartwarming!

Growing Up in the Spotlight
There’s no doubt Sailor has what it takes to bring home the mirrorball trophy. As the daughter of one of Hollywood’s most famous models, Sailor has grown up in the limelight. During a chat with Closer over the summer, she opened up about the best advice her mom has given her to boost her confidence.
“She’s mostly just told me to smile — that’s like her No. 1 advice, especially for confidence — to, you know, ‘smile and you’ll feel it.’ I honestly believe that too,” Sailor exclusively told Closer in July. Reflecting on her younger days, she added, “When I was younger, I’d be like, ‘No, that’s so stupid! Smiling doesn’t make you happy.’ But now, as I’ve matured, I’ve realized how powerful a simple smile can be. It really does make a difference.”
