A Family Legacy in the Making
For Catherine, Dylan isn’t her only child; she also shares 16-year-old daughter Carys with her husband of 20 years, the legendary Michael Douglas. Both parents have been there every step of the way, supporting their kids through life's ups and downs. Now, as their children grow into adulthood, the couple is embracing this new chapter with open arms.
Michael recently opened up about the joys of having an empty nest, saying, “You spend a lot of time talking about your kids, and all of a sudden … and then we got over that very quickly!” The Romancing the Stone star told Closer Weekly and other reporters on October 11, “And now we’re like, ‘wow, we can do anything in our schedules without … obviously the holiday stuff.’ But other than that during the week and everything. So we’re taking full advantage of that, seeing a lot of shows and traveling a lot.”
Pride in Overcoming Challenges
Despite the excitement of their new freedom, Michael and Catherine remain incredibly proud of their children's accomplishments. In particular, Michael expressed immense pride in Dylan, who has overcome significant challenges to achieve his academic goals. “Dylan had serious dyslexia issues, and had to go to special schools earlier on and worked really hard,” Michael revealed. “The fact that he worked himself up to get into an Ivy League school, I’m so proud of him.”
